How to maintain proper body health focuses on providing the body with what it needs and avoiding things that can harm its functions.Maintaining a healthy body doesn't always have to be expensive. Are you curious to know what we can do to keep our health awake? See how to maintain proper body health here!
1. Set a bedtime
The easiest and most forgotten way to maintain health is to set a bedtime or rest time. It seems so trivial that many misunderstand the true need for sleep.
So far, the advice that many of us may hear is to sleep at least 8 hours a day. However, is it true that 8 hours of sleep means that we can sleep at any time as long as we meet 8 hours? Is staying up until dawn and then replacing it with sleeping up to 8 hours the same as sleeping through the night?
Staying up late or staying up all night and then changing sleep during the day will disrupt the body's cycle. The impact can be serious on health. Someone who is sleep deprived or whose sleep cycle is disordered is at increased risk for hypertension, stroke, heart disease, obesity, and diabetes.
To maintain health, start building sleep discipline. Limit peak wakefulness to 10 p.m. and make it a habit to wake up early in the morning before sunrise. In this way, the body system returns to its natural pattern, which is undoubtedly healthier.
2. Reduce sugar intake
Sugar is a source of diseases that many times are not aware of. Excessive sugar consumption can trigger various diseases ranging from obesity, diabetes, and impaired kidney and liver function, to mental health. The Indonesian Ministry of Health recommends that we limit sugar intake to a maximum of 50 grams per day or the equivalent of 4 tablespoons. Meanwhile, the American Heart Association limits you to a maximum of 9 teaspoons per day or 150 calories for men and 6 teaspoons or 100 calories for women.
The problem is that sugar has a thousand faces, not just in the form of granulated sugar that is often used to sweeten foods. Sugar is also found in fruits and processed foods like bottled sauces, corn sugar, white rice, honey, and malt. In addition, all substances called fructose, lactose, glucose, maltose, sucrose, and dextrose also contain sugar.
For the health of the body to be maintained in the long term, we must change our diet by reducing the intake of sugar. An easy way is to increase the consumption of vegetables, reduce the consumption of flour and gradually reduce the sugar in our kitchen or usual drinks.
3. Walking
The body needs regular exercise for health to be more awake. No need to bother looking for which sport. We can get used to exercising by walking regularly for at least 15-30 minutes per day. Easy and cheap!
According to the National Institute of Diabetes and Gastrointestinal and Kidney Disease, getting used to walking at about 4 miles per hour with a 30-minute commute time can reduce our risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
Not only that, walking regularly can help us avoid the risk of pancreatic cancer, osteoporosis, stroke, and heart attack, reduce the risk of Alzheimer's, etc.
4. Manage stress
Health can be affected if we are often exposed to stress. When there is stress, the body will produce the hormones cortisol and adrenaline, which will cause increased heart rate, dilation of blood vessels in the arms and legs, increased blood glucose levels, and rapid breathing. For those who have asthma problems, rapidly changing breathing can trigger a panic attack. Also, chronic stress will increase the risk of developing hypertension, heart attack, and stroke.
We can manage this stress by recognizing the triggers that often put stress on us. For example, we often get stressed because we read social media feeds full of bad news and annoying talk. The solution is can reduce the review of social networks, and start meditating or exercising to stimulate anti-stress hormones.
5. Full insurance protection
An important factor that greatly affects the state of a person's health is peace of mind. A calm mind will avoid stress and we can be more aware of how our day goes by, including choosing healthy foods and productive activities.
Well, one of the things that will help someone's peace of mind is when their financial situation is under control. We can minimize the risk of financial shocks by having adequate insurance protection as needed. With health insurance, for example, we don't have to worry about costs if we need medical attention at any time. Insurance will cover the costs, while we only focus on premiums that have a defined value.
That's an easy way to maintain a healthy body cheaply and safely. So let us no longer ignore the health of our body so that life can be enjoyed more comfortably.
